Oriole Brazil are a truely international group
of musicians living in Denmark, Brazil and the
UK.
Teco Cardoso will be coming from Brazil with his
indigenous flutes and soprano sax and Pianist Thomas
Clausen and Drummmer/ Percussionist Afonso
Correa will be coming from Denmark to perform with Oriole
at The Spitz, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Colchester
Arts Centre. We will be giving workshops too at
Cheltenham Jazz Festival Fringe and The Vortex
Jazz Club.

Cardoso : all saxes,
flutes and Brazilian Indian bamboo flutes One
of the most creative Brazilian soloists/multi-instrumentalist
of all time Teco Cardoso was born in the city
of São Paulo,
whose cosmopolitan flavors can be felt in his music.
He has been performing with important Brazilian
artists such as Dori Caymmi, Edu Lobo, João
Donato, Marlui Miranda, Joyce, Hermeto Pascoal
as well as Americans Toots Thielemans, Jim Hall
and Walter Booker and many others great artists
at the musical international forefront.
Thomas
Clausen: piano Has performed and/or recorded
with: Miles Davis, Gary Burton, Dexter Gordon,
Thad Jones, Elvin Jones, Niels Henning Ørsted
Pedersen, Ben Webster, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Henderson,
Toots Thielemans, Roy Haynes, Johnny Griffin,
Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Staley Turrentine,
Bob Brookmeyer and many others. Thomas is also
a well respected classical composer and has released
one album of big band compositions with the world
renowned Danish Radio Orchestra.
Afonso
Corrêa: drums/perc
Born in Sao Paulo but based in Denmark. Afonso
will bring his vast knowledge of Brazilian rhythms
to Oriole Brazil. Performed and/or recorded with:
Elza Soares , João
Donato, Dom um Romao, Maria Hiort Pedersen , BoStief,
Mads Vinding , Morten Kargaard, Ben Besiakov, Eran
DD, Emsemble New & Tom Harrel, Thomas Clausen
and many others
In early may Oriole
Brazil will be rehearsing, recording, performing
three times and giving two workshops. The repertoire
will be mainly new compositions.
